Written and directed by Tasnádi István
ALKA.T was founded in 2009, led by István Tasnádi, as a successor of Krétakör Theatre's former actors and creative associates. It is a casual company of creative people who worked together on numerous productions and felt that the common passion and similar artistic taste destines them to stay together Phaidra Fitness is a collaborational performance with Company KoMa, an independent company specialized in staging contemporary Hungarian plays.
Phaidra Fitness is definitely a contemporary play. Tasnádi presents the ancient legend as a contemporary biography, emphasizing the mythical roots of the story. Classical forms and today's urban language, archetypical relationships of the characters and modern urban stereotypes surface. And as he applies the antique forms of theatre and the postmodern tools at the same time, the constant collisions and interactions of the dynamic text represent the myth and our attitudes toward it.
It takes place in a gym, drawing on the Phaedra-myth, that has kept Tasnádi occupied for almost a decade: he's been constantly rewriting the plot since 2001, allowing past interpretations' experiences to get included in the current version. The actors of the Berliner Schaubühne and Krétakör worked on the first version with Árpád Schilling's direction. The result was titled Menopausa and was shown at F.I.N.D Festival, Berlin. Another version directed by Schilling premiered at the Salzburg Festival. The bilingual performance was invited to Zürich, Wroclaw, Stuttgart and Berlin.

| István Tasnádi was born in Budapest in 1970. He has been publishing his works, poems, critcism since 1992 regularly.
